A note from Steve Kraskin about the Independent Fund:

After retiring from the practice of law where I focused on representing rural telecom businesses throughout the nation, I wanted to stay connected with the industry.  I decided to establish an investment vehicle that would contribute to the companies and communities with which I was privileged to work.

The Independent Fund is a private investment fund with a capital base in the seven figures.  The fund acts as an “angel” or “seed” investor, providing capital for business start-ups or new ventures initiated by established businesses in exchange for convertible debt or equity in the new business or venture.   The fund generally seeks to place investments from $50,000 to $500,000, but will consider both smaller and larger investment opportunities.”

The Independent Fund is a private fund, and it is not seeking and will not accept investment in the FundThe Independent Fund is seeking good business ideas in which to invest.  A fundamental investment prerequisite is that business seeking the investment must intend to produce a good or service that could potentially be used by rural telecom providers to increase their margins through the generation of new revenues or reductions in their expenses.

If you or your company has a project that would benefit from working with the Independent fund to obtain additional investment, please submit initial information about the project by filling out the form below.

*Investopedia defines an Angel Fund  or Angel Investor as  a fund or investor that  "provides financial backing for small startups or entrepreneurs, typically in exchange for ownership equity in the company . . . Angel investors are focused on helping startups take their first steps, rather than the possible profit they may get from the business."
